Senior Information Specialist, Dept. of Surgery—Applied Research
Before joining Marci-kids, Pam worked for 25 years as a laboratory research scientist in biochemistry and molecular genetics. For the last 10 years she has also worked as a journalist and scientific writer. Pam’s professional background provides her with the opportunity to play a unique dual role on the Marci-Kids team.
As a scientist, Pam helps the research technical staff in the design and implementation of clinical studies aimed at identifying new and better ways of diagnosing and treating GERD and EER in children. Once the studies are completed, she is responsible for writing and editing reports for publication in medical journals. Publication is a key aspect of the Marci-Kids research program, as it enables doctors all over the world to apply what we have learned in treating their patients.
Pam’s philosophy about her job is that if you do what you love, you’ll never work a day in your life. On those rare occasions when she not researching or writing, she can usually be found hiking in the Missouri woods with her little dog, Kizzie.
