Dr. Joseph Tobias received his MD degree from the University of Missouri in Kansas City. Following graduation from medical school, he completed a residency in pediatrics at Texas Children's Hospital and the Baylor University Affiliated program in Houston, Texas and a residency in anesthesiology at the Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland. This was followed by a fellowship in pediatric anesthesiology and pediatric critical care at Johns Hopkins Hospital. Following fellowship, Dr. Tobias was on the faculty of St. Jude Children's Hospital and Vanderbilt University. For the past 10 years, he has been on the faculty at the University of Missouri. Dr. Tobias is board certified in pediatrics, anesthesiology, pediatric critical care, and pain management. He is currently the Vice-Chairman of the Department of Anesthesiology, Chief of Pediatric Critical Care/Pediatric Anesthesiology, the Russell and Mary Shelden Chair in Pediatric Intensive Care Medicine, and a Professor of Anesthesiology and Pediatrics at the University of Missouri in Columbia, Missouri.
