1043459- Outcomes of Pediatric Patients Previously Treated with Proton Pump Inhibitors
The purpose of this research is to obtain information about the outcomes of pediatric patients previously treated for EER and GERD. Information will be collected and compiled regarding: child’s symptoms and medications taken to treat reflux-related symptoms, including over-the-counter medications, motility medications; H 2-blockers and PPI medications. This study will remain open until December 2006. The study will close to new enrollment on March 1, 2006. Those already enrolled will be able to continue to purchase CaraCream or ChocoBase until December 1, 2006.
Inclusion criteria:
- Between the ages of 0 to 18 years with a history of treatment begun for extra-esophageal reflux and/or gastroesophageal reflux disease.
- Have used ChocoBase™ or CaraCream™ in the past.
- Have a parent or guardian willing to fill out questionnaire.
Exclusion criteria:
- Over the age of 18 years.
- Without a history of treatment for EER and/or GERD.
- Who have not ordered ChocoBase™ or CaraCream™ in the past.
- Parent or guardian is not willing to fill out questionnaire
What Is Involved in the Study?
- Patient eligibility determined.
- The legally authorized representative is contacted on behalf of patient for consent for participation in study.
- The legally authorized representative will be asked to read and discuss study participation with child 7 years or older. A Health Insurance Portability Accountability Act (HIPAA) Authorization and Informed Consent will either be sent or viewed online depending on whether participant chooses to use the internet or requests a paper copy of the questionnaire
- Fill out a questionnaire on behalf of the patient.
- Return all documents, either through the mail or electronic, to study site.
- Participant inducement will be mailed upon receipt of questionnaire.
- Data will be compiled and analyzed.
- Reports, articles and/or presentations will be prepared
